| Kurzbeschreibung | The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the largest organization for applied research in Europe.
Today it comprises more than 80 research units, including 59 Fraunhofer Institutes, at different locations in Germany, with € 1.5 billion total annual research budget. The 17,000 staff are qualified scientists and engineers with first class expertise in a broad spectrum of IT and engineering areas. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft undertakes applied research of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. Our Customers are leading German industry companies, SMEs, the service sector, and public administration. The Fraunhofer Institute of Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) at Schloss Birlinghoven/Sankt Augustin near Bonn has a long tradition and a broad experience in intelligent information systems. It leads Fraunhofer's efforts in the Semantic Technologies area. Application domains like Web multimedia, data and knowledge mining, intelligent business processes, and preventive security are the main application fields also for this new generation of IT technologies. In a whole set of research and application projects funded by industry, the German goverment, and the European Commission, Semantic Technologies are developed and applied. | |
